 - Labor and Taft-Hartley History
- Understand the basics of labor unions and the role of labor-management relationship as a basis for work and employee benefits.
 - Identify how multiemployer plans came to exist.
 - Review Taft-Hartley Act of 1947.
 - Describe multiemployer plans.
 - Recognize common types of multiemployer employee benefit plans, including both Taft-Hartley and non-Taft-Hartley plans.
 
 - Multiemployer Plan Regulators (ERISA, DOL, HHS, IRS)
- Identify the roles of the Department of Labor (DOL), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in regulating multiemployer plans.
 - Understand ERISA and its impact on benefit plans.
 - Recognize the roles of the different multiemployer plan regulators.
 
 - Administrative Models and Roles
- Define the types of benefit plan administration: in-house/salaried, third-party.
 - Understand roles and responsibilities under the different administrative models.
 - Understand key roles and responsibilities of trustees, service providers, and other stakeholders.

- Develop knowledge of governance principles to ensure compliance and ethical administration.

 - Plan for and understand the purpose of a payroll audit.
 - Understand how establishing good internal control systems help multiemployer plans maintain compliance with regulations.
 
 - Vendor & Plan Professional Management
- Describe the roles of multiple types of plan advisors.
 - Follow the steps of hiring professional advisors.
 - Monitor professional advisors appropriately.
 - Evaluate the roles of vendors and external professionals in plan administration.
