Earn Continuing Education Credit
As an insurance professional, you can use e-learning courses to meet continuing education requirements. Each course in the Fundamentals of Group Benefits certificate is approved for four hours of Life/Accident and Sickness credit in Alberta and Manitoba. 1 How do I earn my certificate?
You must successfully complete the four required courses to
earn your certificate. Courses will be available for 180 days after
purchase before access expires.
2 How do I complete a course?
First, you must review all of the lessons in the course. You
will not be able to write the exam until this requirement is satisfied.
When you are ready, you have two attempts to pass the 25-question final
exam. These are closed-book exams and you must earn a grade of 70% or
higher to pass.
3 How long will it take me to complete the certificate?
While each course ranges in length and you can complete them
at your own pace, you should expect to spend at least 10-15 total hours
completing this certificate.
4 When will I receive my certificate when I finish?
When you complete the four required courses, you will receive a
certificate via email within 24 hours. The certificate will be emailed
to the address on file in your International Foundation profile.
5 How do I receive the member pricing?
Become a
member
of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and receive
the reduced member pricing and so much more. Members receive free
webcasts, a daily newsletter of the top benefits headlines, personalized
answers to their benefits questions and reduced pricing on other
Foundation programs, e-learning courses and books.

7 How are the courses developed?
Courses are written by subject matter experts and updated
annually. The International Foundation would like to acknowledge the
Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association (CLHIA) and the member
companies of CLHIA for sharing their vision and expertise in working
with Dalhousie University and for their financial support to develop
these courses.
8 Can I earn a certificate if I’ve purchased these courses ala carte?
Yes, whether you purchase the courses individually or as a
certificate bundle, you will receive a certificate upon successful
completion of all required courses.
